Meghan's Story... Couple #7
I had heard about your contest for a bride's hair/make-up and wanted to submit my story. Some may look at my life and feel sorry for me, but trust me, it has been wonderful. I was born to two awesome parents in 1980, but it was soon discovered I had cystic fibrosis (CF) and my life expectancy would be 12. So my parents did something amazing - they treated me like any other kid. Maybe they kept a closer eye on me, but trust me, I got in trouble like other kids, had chores, fought with my siblings, and went on vacations. I got colds more frequently and had a physical therapist come to my home five times per week to perform chest pt, but I also played on the volleyball team and performed in the musicals. I had friends and went to slumber parties. When I was 15, I was told the life expectancy for CF patients was now 30. So, in my 15 year old mind, I thought, " what a jerk, I can't wait to prove you wrong". After college, grad school, and countless vacations and adventures I finally turned 30 and had a huge party. Getting to that party wasn't easy - my mother died of breast cancer when I was 24 and I had countless stays at MGH for intensive IV treatments - but it was wonderful. And yet, I had always hoped I could find that great guy that could make me laugh and would accept me (along with the CF). Boyfriends had come and gone, and none of them were a good fit - they were tools mostly. And then one night, the friend of my best friend's husband asked if he could take me out for dinner. We had been in said friend's wedding together, he was cute, and I knew it would be a fun date. This nice, unassuming guy turned out to be the most wonderful guy. Besides being absolutely adorable, he makes me laugh and I feel like everything will be ok when I am with him. He has been by my side during hospital stays and carribbean cruises while maintaining the same positive outlook. So, this is my life story - and I feel like the luckiest girl alive. I am truly blessed because of all that life has taught me and the amazing people that I am surrounded by. And now I am planning another party for next summer, but this time I have an amazing partner.

I am sure Myles is a wonderful guy but he truly is the lucky one here....as is anyone who is fortunate enough to have Meghan in their life. I met Meg years ago as I was one of those PTs who would come to her house to do chest PT. This girl never complained once about the hand she was dealt, she just always saw the brighter side of everything. She inspired me to do the same and I truly look at life differently from knowing her. She deserves this wonderful guy and hopefully to win this contest! Please vote for Meghan!!
ReplyDeleteI agree Myles is a lucky guy - Meghan is my neice and she never ceases to amaze me - her strength and positive attitude has been an inspiration - her story tells it all - she has never wanted sympathy and she always lived (and will continue to live) life to the fullest Every time, there was a hurdle to climb, she attacked it - never once saying "I can't" I have been blessed to be able to be with her for the good time and the bad - her mother would be so proud (is so proud) and we will all be there next sumemr as she and Myles are married - she will be one beautiful bride
ReplyDeleteI am glad some of you are reposting what you wrote to me as it touched me as well.
